Egin has launched!

Egin has launched today! Here's some information that you may want to share with others who are interested in Egin:

Egin supports communities in Wales, especially those most vulnerable to climate change, to take action through Peer Mentoring.

What is Egin?

Egin is a new programme that helps to unlock the potential of communities in Wales to tackle climate change and live more sustainably.

Groups who join the programme can get up to 3 days of support from Peer Mentors - people with experience and skills in setting up similar projects in other communities. They can help guide you to create an Action Plan for your community.

Who is it for?

Egin supports community groups, charities, non-profit and non-governmental organisations, and social enterprises in Wales.

Our main focus is to help those who will be the most impacted by climate change, yet may often feel they are not part of conversations around climate.

We especially invite groups who have not taken any climate action before, and are not sure where to start.

How does it work?

Your first point of contact is your Facilitator. Egin has 9 Facilitators located around Wales - get in touch with your nearest Facilitator to get started, or email [email protected]

You can arrange a conversation with your Facilitator to find out whether Egin is right for you. These talks are no-strings-attached, and even if you do decide to join, Egin is completely free for you.

What help will we get?

If you join Egin, your Facilitator will help you find the right Peer Mentor for you - based on the skills and experience you need. You'll get 1-3 days of support, depending on what you need.

Your Peer Mentor can also help you apply for a Sustainable Steps Wales - Egin grant of up to £15,000 to help with the costs of your project.

How is it funded?

The Egin programme itself is funded by a Sustainable Steps Wales - Mentoring grant, while the grants you can apply for (if you're eligible) are Sustainable Steps Wales - Egin grants.

Both are administered by The National Lottery Community Fund. The funding comes from the Dormant Assets Scheme – which donates money left untouched for more than 15 years in bank accounts and building societies.
